Saint-Gobain has begun construction of its seventh float glass line andfifth mineral wool insulation line at its Oragadam facility near Chennai,marking a major expansion of its Indian operations.
The new float glass unit, with a production capacity of 1,000 tonnes perday, will cater to rising demand for high value-added glass in theconstruction sector. The plant will integrate advanced digital capabilitiesand energy-efficient systems to reduce environmental impact, as per theofficial statement.
Alongside, the company is setting up its largest Asia-Pacific mineral woolinsulation plant with an annual capacity of 50,000 tonnes. Designed as anear net-zero carbon facility, it will supply insulation solutions for India'sgrowing building construction market, leveraging the latest digital andengineering innovations.

Once operational, the Oragadam site will become Saint-Gobain's largestmulti-business manufacturing hub in India, housing facilities for floatglass, mineral wool insulation, gypsum boards, plasters, and acousticceilings.
