Gerresheimer's glass site in Bad Königshofen, Germany, will close by the end of the year with the loss of 90 jobs.

Gerresheimer is to close a pharmaceutical glass industry site.

It has confirmed the closure of its Bad Königshofen, Germany pharmaceutical glass manufacturing facility.

The site, which currently employs 90 people, is scheduled to close at the end of the year.

Gerresheimer acquired the Remy & Geiser site in Bad Königshofen – formerly ISO Arzneiverpackungen – as part of the acquisition of the Bormioli Pharma Group in December 2024.

Jutta Lorberg, Gerresheimer's Head of Corporate Communication, said the site has been operating at a loss since 2021.

"Following the acquisition of the site, Gerresheimer has spent more than six months conducting an intensive analysis to determine whether there is an economic way to restore the site's profitability and competitiveness.

"Unfortunately, this is not the case."

The works council and employees were informed of the situation last month.

The company now intends to begin negotiations with the works council on a reconciliation of interests and a social plan, 'with the goal of ending production and closing the site by the end of 2025, if possible.'
