NovaSklo’s plan to construct a new float glass plant in Ukraine amid the ongoing war with Russia took a step forward this past week. The company announced at the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC) 2025 in Rome that it will build the plant in Kyiv by 2028.

Several partners, including Horn Glass Industries, Bottero and Zippe Industrieanlagen GmbH, will help with the project. The three companies will be the leading technology and equipment suppliers and collaborate on engineering, technical design and project management. NovaSklo has also secured a partnership with a float glass manufacturer, which has not yet been announced.

“Broken glass and broken windows are always a symbol of decline and war,” Igor Liski, NovaSklo CEO and founder of investment company EFI Group, told Interfax-Ukraine at URC. “A new plant that produces high-quality glass symbolizes that we, Ukrainians, have a future and will rebuild Ukraine with the best glass and technology. We must do everything possible to ensure Ukraine has a different future.”

Liski notes that NovaSklo secured a plot of land for production and purchased a license for sand extraction. The project, estimated to cost more than $280 million, aims to strengthen Ukraine’s industrial resilience while reducing import dependence.

The facility will produce an estimated 24.8 million square meters of glass annually.
