Two strong companies that are committed to innovation: Gerresheimer and HORN Glass Industries AG rely on state-of-the-art glass melting furnace for enhanced efficiency and sustainability. On behalf of Gerresheimer, glass melting technology specialist HORN upgraded one of the two furnaces to the latest low-CO2 glass melting technology within four months from January 2025. The new, state-of-the-art oxy-hybrid furnace for the plant in Lohr am Main will produce container glass much more sustainably in the future and further increase the proportion of high-value products at the Lohr site. The new furnace is equipped with the proven HORN oxyfuel technology in conjunction with the company's own e-Fusion Power Boosting as hybrid technology. The replacement of the furnace for white glass with a state-of-the-art oxy-hybrid furnace reduces CO2e emissions by up to 40% compared to a furnace with conventional technology and features the latest production technologies with environmentally friendly cooling. The new furnace has a higher capacity and can operate with up to 50% electricity. The entire installation and commissioning was supervised and managed by HORN. As a result, the glass flow took place on schedule on May 4th, 2025. HORN would like to thank Gerresheimer for the excellent cooperation, the trust placed in them and wishes them a successful furnace campaign. Here's to the successful production of sustainable and low-emission glass containers! Image:
