An exhibit of contemporary glasswork by renowned Tennessee artist Richard Jolley is on view at the Sandwich Glass Museum through November 1.
A glass artist for more than 50 years, Jolley is dedicated to educating the next generation of glassmakers.
Jolley visited the museum in April, leading several workshops for elementary through high school students in the hot shop making glass objects designed by the students.
“He’s one of the few glass artists left in the US that still mixes their own glass formulas,” said Mary Childs, executive director of the museum, adding, “he also creates these wonderful sculptures."
The show consists of eight sculptures, many with animal and nature themes in pastel, earth and iridescent colors. All of the pieces are for sale, with a percentage of the sale price benefitting the museum.
